Project Overview: Independent Assurance for a Pharmaceutical Facility
LEAN Engineering & Inspection was appointed by Pharma International to carry out an independent technical inspection of elevator systems serving its pharmaceutical facility in Amman.
The assignment combined comprehensive inspection, functional testing, technical reporting and subsequent verification activities, providing the client with an independent engineering reference for managing elevator safety, maintenance and corrective actions.
The Challenge: Elevator Reliability in a Production Environment
Within a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, elevators form part of the infrastructure supporting people, materials and day-to-day operations.
Their safe and reliable operation requires attention to several areas:
- Mechanical Condition: Braking systems, suspension equipment and mechanical assemblies.
- Safety Systems: Safety devices, emergency stops and electrical safety circuits.
- Operational Performance: Movement, stopping, doors and control response.
- Production Continuity: Technical issues need to be identified and managed before they contribute to unplanned disruption.
- Follow-Up Verification: Corrective work requires technical verification to confirm that actions have been implemented effectively.
Our Solution: Inspection Followed by Technical Verification
As an ISO/IEC 17020 Type A inspection body, LEAN performs inspection independently from elevator maintenance, installation, repair and spare-parts supply.
The project included visual examinations, functional safety testing, evaluation of safety devices and verification against the applicable technical requirements.
LEAN subsequently carried out follow-up verification activities, including operational testing, full-load testing and electrical measurements on selected equipment, providing an engineering basis for evaluating completed corrective actions.
The Outcome: From Inspection to Verified Follow-Up
- Independent Technical Assurance: An impartial assessment separate from the maintenance function.
- Structured Corrective-Action Follow-Up: Technical verification of actions following the initial inspection.
- Documented Traceability: Inspection reports, test records and follow-up documentation.
- Stronger Maintenance Oversight: Objective technical information to support discussions with service providers.
- Better Asset Decisions: Engineering evidence to support maintenance planning and operational risk management.
Detailed technical findings remain confidential between LEAN and the client.
Engineering Assurance for Industrial Facilities
In production environments, effective elevator inspection extends beyond identifying observations during a single visit. Technical findings must be documented, corrective actions followed and completed work independently verified where required.
The Pharma International project demonstrates this inspection cycle from initial assessment through technical follow-up, giving the asset owner clearer information for managing equipment condition and operational reliability.
Inspect. Test. Verify.
